Valerie Uccellani, Partner
Valerie Uccellani has
partnered with government and non-profit organizations in 17 countries
in the Americas, Asia and Africa on projects in international
development, public health, literacy, credit-with-education, anti-racism, and workforce development.
Valerie brings extensive international
experience, including assignments in: Ethiopia, Guinea-Bissau,
Cape Verde, Egypt, Angola, Mozambique, South Africa; Bolivia,
Ecuador, Peru, Brazil, Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras;
Bangladesh; Portugal, Spain, Italy; Urban and Rural U.S.A. She
is fluent in Spanish.
Her work with GLP has included:
- coordinating a GLP team that revitalized
the nutrition education classes of California's WIC program;
- leading a customized on-site and e-learning
program for staff of the Craig Hospital in Denver, Colorado;
and
- creating the SURE-Fire
Meetings workshop on creating effective meetings.
She has also completed previous staff and consulting
assignments with:
- the Center for Communication Programs and
Academy for Educational Development at John Hopkins' University;
- Loyola University in New Orleans;
- the New Orleans Jobs Initiative;
- Freedom from Hunger International; and
- the Literacy Alliance of Greater New Orleans
- co-authored "21st Century Success Principles,"
recognized as a quality standard of job readiness programs
As a seasoned facilitator, Valerie maximizes
productive dialogue by addressing how resources, policies, and
power dynamics influence people's learning and interactions. She
brings academic and professional experience in:
- Participatory, Qualitative Research
- Learning Assessments and Evaluation;
- Material Design and Pre-testing;
- Curriculum Development for both classroom
and online learning environments;
- Staff Development, Retreats, and Team-building;
- Dialogue Education-based seminars and training;
and
- Social Marketing.
Valerie holds a M.S. from Columbia University's
School of Public Health, and a B.A. in Biology and Spanish from
the University of Virginia, Charlottesville, Virginia. She also
completed a Semester Abroad program with the Institute of European
Studies in Madrid, Spain.
