Valerie Uccellani, GLP Partner, is currently assisting the
Health Communications Partnership (HCP) Ethiopia with the development of a strengthened mentorship program and university-wide mobilization for the “Campus Life” program, which focuses on HIV/AIDS prevention. Valerie spent two-and-a-half weeks in
Addis Ababa, ETHIOPIA in November 2009, where she worked with HCP staff on the design of the mentorship program and carried out preliminary research for a university-wide mobilization project to respond to the spread of HIV/AIDS.

In Washington, DC, USA,
Peter Noteboom, GLP Partner, recently completed a customized five-day
Learning to Listen, Learning to Teach for twelve trainers from the
International Budget Partnership (IBP) who work all over the world offering trainings in a variety of settings regarding budget work and budget analysis. The International Budget Partnership (IBP) works in developing countries with non-governmental organizations on every aspect of government budgeting. IBP pays careful attention to the interests and needs of people who are poor and low-income citizens and pushes to make government budgets evident and understandable to the public. to analyze, monitor, and influence government budget processes, institutions, and outcomes. This Dialogue Education™ training was among the first time that these participants gathered together and in addition to learning about training, they also had a chance to build their internal IBP community through dialogue in English, French, and Spanish.
In November, 2009, Jeanette Romkema facilitated a Dialogue Education™ workshop in
Toronto, Ontario, CANADA with the
Race Relations Committee of Classis Toronto as a part of their Anti-Racism Initiative. Topics explored by the participants included:

In
Burlington, VT, USA,
Peter Perkins, GLP Partner, worked with eleven Dialogue Education™ enthusiasts during a three-day
Advanced Learning Design workshop.
Participants came from a variety of state and non-profit agencies
and brought with them to the course a curriculum they had designed using the 7-Step Dialogue Education™ method. During the course they had an opportunity to go more deeply into the technical aspects of curriculum design, communication, and learning styles, and benefited from reflecting on the designs of other participants and discussing how learning can be more participatory, accountable and engaging.
New York, NY, USA: Darlene Goetzman, GLP Partner, has been working to provide technical assistance to the
Asthma Initiative for the Bureau of Chronic Disease Prevention & Control in the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Darlene is doing curriculum review and design, and coaching in the application of Dialogue Education™ in training and design facilitation.
In October, 2009, in Ridgefield, CT, USA,
Karen Ridout, GLP Partner, worked on the Sales/Marketing Compliance Training Assessment Project for
Boehringer-Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals to analyze their current compliance training situation in order to develop a more effective, sustainable and state-of the-art compliance training system. Compliance with statutes and regulations is critical for the sales & marketing teams and learning about compliance through dialogue is an effective way to train for good retention and understanding of information.
Marian Darlington-Hope, GLP Partner, and
Jane Vella, GLP Founder, recently spent time together on Jane’s back porch in
Raleigh, NC, USA, to develop a new online course to teach graduates of
Advanced Learning Design about effective ways to use Dialogue Education™ in an online setting. This is a brand
new course; watch for the
first offering of this course in March 2010, with registration to begin in January.
