President, Global Learning Partners
This year I’m grateful for a year of waiting, of incubating ideas, of communities forming, of the maturation of a Dialogue Education company and a Dialogue Education community.
Nearly 12 months ago, after a significant meeting here in Toronto we sent out a milestone announcement that declared the intent of many of us to move toward developing a professional partnership. That dialogue, those intentions, this persistence is now bearing fruit. If all goes well, a new corporate structure will come into existence on the first of the year, 2007. Many of us have already been living into the new arrangement, have tested the engines of a new structure, and are raising the bar on our standards of quality.
Another highlight of the year was celebrating 25 years of Global Learning Partners at the 2nd Dialogue Education Institute in Vermont. The gala evening dinner and dance provided an ideal opportunity to share stories of times past with Jane and her sister Joan Vella. The many new participants who joined with long-time members of the Dialogue Education community provided an excellent occasion to strengthen and stretch what we know about how adults learn. But as is so often the case, the most memorable conversations were stories about futures to come.
Remembering the Dialogue Education Principle of “Silence”, take a moment this holiday season to remember, be grateful, and recognize others for what they have taught you about dialogue education for a more peaceful world. How will you share what you know?
