Kathy A. Johnson, a Senior Associate
with Global Learning Partners since 1996, is the Director of Equity Initiatives
for The Vermont Institutes (VI) in Montpelier, Vermont. Kathy specializes in equity,
diversity, and anti-bias work with adults and older students, using Dialogue Education
principals and practices as a means to promote equity in educational and other
settings. She has been studying and using Dialogue Education since 1989. Prior
to joining Vermont Institutes in 1996, Kathy was Equity Coordinator at the Barre
Technical Center and the Washington County Youth Service Bureau in Central Vermont.
She has served as a consultant to numerous organizations, including the Vermont
Governor's Commission on Women and the Center for the Study of Social Policy.
Kathy has served on Advisory Panels and/or Board of Directors for different equity-oriented
groups including the national Women's Educational Equity Associates, Northern
New England Tradeswomen, the Women in Technology Advisory Group at Vermont Technical
College and the Northeast Regional Alliance Equity Steering Committee, among others.
Kathy received her BA in Economics and English summa cum laude from Saint
Michael's College in Winooski, VT in 1985. She has taken graduate courses at the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and at Union Institute and University.
Kathy lives in Worcester, Vermont with her daughter, Alyssa Mae.
