Further Reflections on Power Point

by Dr. Muhammed Ishaque
ISCOS-CISL PAKISTAN

It may be that in some countries using PowerPoint for workshops is feasible, but in a country like Pakistan, you just cannot rely on the electricity supply. At any time, the power supply may be shut down, affecting the entire business in the country. As such, you cannot rely on this teaching aid. In contrast, charts and markers can be used very easily in all conditions.

As well, with charts, we can use effective communication skills and body language but using PowerPoint restricts the free movement and body language while presenting. Moreover, in Pakistan, the reliance on new technologies like computers has reduced the value that people place on human art and the practice of designing and calligraphy has diminished. Being able to do calligraphic art was once a valued skill, but now even children can use PowerPoint to make even better visual effects.
