Peter Noteboom, Partner
Peter Noteboom has been a Senior Associate
of Global Learning Partners (GLP) since 1995, and served as President
and Managing Director of GLP from 2000 until
2007.
As a teacher and consultant, Peter has worked
with Dialogue Education practitioners in many international settings,
including community development organizations in The Philippines, micro-finance and elementary schools in Haiti, and public health and economic development NGO's in
Bangladesh. He is fluent in English, Dutch, French, and Mandarin, and has a working knowledge of six other languages,
including German and Haitian Creole.
In North America, Peter has introduced hundreds
of Global Learning Partners' course participants to Dialogue Education
through customized and public courses. He excels at networking,
and has helped friends connect to colleagues and programs that
can build broader movements for justice and a more sustainable
economy.
Currently, he is specializing in leading learning
and dialogue programs that build practice and stronger consensus
in the academic, voluntary and community development sectors.
Recently this has included curriculum and facilitator development
programs for racial reconciliation, multi-party consensus agreement
and planning for international development, and graduate course
teaching in higher education.
Peter's areas of greatest experience and depth
include:
- designing learning programs for economic
and social justice, human rights
and peacebuilding, undoing racism, and organizational development
- leading program planning and project management
processes
- facilitating board and governance visioning
and transition sessions
- designing and accompanying evaluation planning
and processes
Peter has extensive international and cross-cultural
experience, having lived and worked in a number of countries,
including (by region): Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Côte
d'Ivoire, Ethiopia Ghana, Liberia, Mali, Niger, Nigeria, Senegal,
Sierra Leone, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia; Haiti, Costa Rica, Mexico;
Belgium, Germany, France, Portugal, The Netherlands; Bangladesh,
China, India, Philippines, Thailand; and, Canada, USA.
When not teaching or facilitating, Peter
is active in several peacebuilding, social justice and ecumenical
organizations. Together with his life partner, Jeanette Romkema,
he enjoys hiking, reading and spending time with their two children.
