Darlene Goetzman, Partner
When Darlene Goetzman began her work
with Dialogue Education in 1992, she knew right away that she
wanted to create the same type of engagement, dialogue and respectful
accountability in all her work. It is the simplicity, the depth
and the hard work of being a Dialogue Education practitioner that
continues to sustain and renew Darlene's everyday practice.
As a teacher and organization development
consultant, she specializes in working with organizations
or businesses that are in jeopardy of closing and/or undergoing
significant change. She finds that the integration and modeling
of Dialogue Education principles and practices creates and sustains
a climate of safety and respect where engaged dialogue and wide-spread
community support can flourish.
Her work with GLP has included planning a professional
development project for university staff in Pakistan, and working
on a statewide revitalization of nutrition education with California's
WIC program. Darlene's previous experience included working as
a Parent Educator, Community Awareness Specialist, and later as
a programs director of a countywide housing agency. She has worked
with community action agencies, merchants' associations, school
systems, neighborhood preservation agencies, WIC programs, departments
of social services and Literacy Volunteers of America.
Darlene has a B.A. in Human Services Management
and a M.A. in Human and Organizational Transformation. Recently,
she has become an Associate of the Human Systems Dynamics Institute,
and she has also served as an adjunct faculty member for Lesley
University in the Curriculum and Instruction Masters Program,
teaching Psychosocial Issues in Human Development and Dimensions
of Teaching and Learning. Her publications include Literacy Volunteers
of America's Principles for Effective Training, and a chapter
in Jane Vella's Dialogue Education at Work.
Darlene is married to a delightful man,
Mike, and together they have two children, ages 14 and 12, and
a lovely grown daughter, Carolyn. When Darlene is not listening
to music lessons, chauffeuring, and cheering for her kids and
their teams, she likes to sew, cook, decorate, garden, write,
read and sleep!
