Matthew Myers completed his degree
in Community Mental Health Counseling at the University of Vermont (UVM) in 1990.
He has worked in several higer education/student affairs positions including Prevention
Specialist, Director of Counseling, Campus Life and Dean of Students. Matt has
worked in substance abuse prevention at the Department of Education (DOE) since
1997. He graduated from the Snelling Centre for Government, Vermont Leaderhip
Institute in 2003.
Aside from being a doting father to his three beautiful
daughters, he is most proud of creating nationally recognized prevention programs
at Johnson State College and at the Vermont Department of Education.
Matt is currently the Assistant Division Director for the Safe and Healthy Schools
Team where he oversees the provision of technical assistance, training and funding
in support of safe schools and healthy Vermont students.
Matt started working with Jane Vella in 1994 and has very much enjoyed teaching
as an Associate with Global Learning Partners of Toronto, Canada.

material, than sit on it! If you want to teach material, create a learning task
in which participants make the material their own by engaging in dialogue, taking
the material apart, putting it back together, practice using it and applying it
to their own lives.
