Barbara
Gassner
Barbara Gassner is an Associate of Global
Learning Partners. She is an experienced educator in the fields of prevention
and adult learning. She has worked across several social service delivery systems
in the areas of child protection, welfare and welfare reform, adult education,
delinquency prevention, substance abuse prevention, public education and mental
health.
Barbara trained and practiced in conflict skills and mediations
at the Center for Conflict Resolution in Madison, Wisconsin and has researched
the impact of wartime trauma on Vietnam Veterans and their families. She led implementation
of a Caring Communities Delinquency Prevention Grant, originating in the Office
of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention, for the Town of Randolph, Vermont.
She was a member of State of Vermonts Prevention Institute Consultation
Team. In that capacity she worked in consultation to a wide variety of State Agents
and community coalitions.
As a member of the State of Vermonts Safe
and Drug Free Schools and Communities Consultation Team, she has worked in consultation
with community coalitions in towns which were recipients of State Incentive Grants
to address alcohol use/abuse among Vermonts young people. She also has worked
with groups dedicated to addressing the growing use of heroin in Vermont.
Barbara
currently implements an adult education and training program, Getting Ready To
Work, which is part of Vermonts Welfare to Work effort. In her role as coordinator,
she builds collaborative relationships with local service providers and businesses
to address the needs of the participants in GRTW.
