Dialogue Education Practitioner (DEP) FAQs

A. What is a Dialogue Education Practitioner?

The Practitioner designation recognizes individuals who have demonstrated their proficiency in Dialogue Education through their own work as learning designers and teachers in varied organizational settings. DEPs do not teach GLP courses -- they are recognized as qualified practitioners who model the GLP approach to Dialogue Education. This professional development designation honors their hard work and commitment to high quality learning designing and teaching. Becoming a DEP is a necessary step to becoming a Certified Dialogue Education Teacher with GLP. DEPs retain their certification for a three-year period, renewable every three years.

B. How can I become a certified DE Practitioner?

  1. Complete GLP’s foundation course, Learning to Listen, Learning to Teach and either Advanced Learning Design or Learning Evaluation by Design.
  2. Apply the principles and practices of Dialogue Education in your own work for at least 6 months.
  3. Submit an application including an updated resume, one written reference from a client or workshop participant, and one original learning design (on a non-Dialogue Education topic) that models a Dialogue Education approach.
  4. Pay a $125 application fee, which certifies you for 3 years as a DEP upon notification by GLP. Renewal applications will be reviewed twice a year (Spring and Fall).

C. What are the benefits of a DE Practitioner designation with GLP?

  1. You join, and have access to, a select group of colleagues who are on the cutting edge of Dialogue Education teaching and learning around the world.
  2. You are recognized as a skilled DE Practitioner and receive a 3-year certificate.
  3. You receive a 10% discount on additional GLP courses, the Dialogue Education Institute (DEI) and all design reviews by GLP Partners or Partner Emeritus, Jane Vella.
  4. You get priority in receiving new GLP services, such as online tutorials, the upcoming online design forum, etc.
  5. Your resume is added to the GLP private database of potential GLP consultants.
  6. You are eligible for inclusion in our international “learning design library” which catalogues DE learning designs, by topic areas.
  7. Your name and affiliation is posted on www.globalearning.com, in return for a reciprocal link.

D. How do I renew my DE Practitioner designation with GLP?
